Let’s start with the basics.
Topical authority is an SEO strategy that measures how well a website understands a topic. It helps search engines understand the content on a website and rank it higher for related keywords.
Topical authority is important for SEO because it:
- Helps search engines understand a website’s topic
- Makes search easier, faster, and more intuitive
- Helps search engines use a website to satisfy multiple search queries on a topic
Some ways to build topical authority include:
- Creating an awesome content strategy
- Building topic clusters
- Understanding user intent
- Building high-quality links
- Creating pillar pages
- Creating subtopic pages
- Interlinking pillar and subtopic pages
How Topical Authority Generation in ZimmWriter Works
The Topical Authority Generator (found in the AI Vault) turns a broad concept into topical clusters, with corresponding long tail keywords, and blog post titles. It also generates a category for each of the blog post titles.
Here are some notes on how it works:
- The topical authority generation is 100% based on AI and not on SERP scraping. While this might change in the future, right now it gives very good results for many broad and semi-broad topics.
- The maximum amount of topical clusters possible is 20, and for each topical cluster you can generate 20 long tail keywords (so the max long tails becomes 400) and for each long tail keyword you can generate a dynamic amount of blog post titles. The upper limit is 1,000 (10x10x10) but it dynamically adjusts based on your cluster and long tail selections.
- In general, 1,000 blog post titles using GPT 3.5 Turbo is about $0.20 whereas GPT-4 is about $4.50.
- Each title is generated based on a “type” (e.g., listicle post, how-to post, why post, headline hack, etc) which correspond to prompts behind the scenes. In general, GPT-4 seems to follow the prompts better than GPT 3.5 Turbo. However, I have been very pleased with the output from GPT 3.5 Turbo.
- You will get overlap within a set of blog titles for a given long tail and that is 100% expected. It’s not intended to generate 10 blog post titles for every long tail and write an article for every blog post title expecting unique non-overlapping content. It’s better to think of a group of blog post titles for a long-tail as a buffet of choices. Use your brain to pick and choose the best titles for your needs.
- A blog post title might work well in the bulk writer, but it also might not. You will have to use your best judgement if it’s something that works in the bulk, needs background information, or needs the SEO Writer.
- The {category=} column (and the merged column) is a custom variable to add after the blog post title in the Bulk Writer (e.g., how to wash a dog{category=Dog Bathing}). It causes ZimmWriter to auto create the category and assign the blog post to the category when auto uploaded to WordPress.
- The {outline_focus=} is a very important variable that is also added to the end of a blog post title in the Bulk Writer. It helps the AI create a relevant outline when the title is ambiguous. It is VERY important to use this most of the time.
- Don’t be afraid to test things out! Tests are best run with 3, 3, 3, and GPT 3.5 Turbo. It’s cheap, fast, and gives great results.
